The San Diego Council of the Navy League has accepted the responsibility of sponsoring the events that accompany the commissioning ceremony. These are memorable events not only for the San Diego community, but especially for the members of the USS RAFAEL PERALTA’s crew and their families, and we are requesting your assistance in this effort. Your contribution will enable us to conduct these celebratory events that honor the ship, her crew and reflect the pride of our community in a ship named after a United States Marine hero who grew up in San Diego, graduated from Morse High School, and gave his life saving others in during Operation Iraqi Freedom. By participating in the commissioning week, you can be involved in the various events surrounding the actual commissioning ceremony including a number of receptions, personal interactions with crewmembers, and opportunities to meet other dignitaries that will be present for the commissioning. In addition, individuals and businesses which participate in the commissioning week are designated as honorary plankowners and also presented with various commemorative gifts representative of the ship and the commissioning.
The events supporting the commissioning week are not paid for by the U. S. Government but are privately funded by your donations which are managed by the San Diego Council of the Navy League, a non-profit organization. Some contributions may be tax deductible. The beneficiaries of these funds will be the ship, her crew and their families. With your help, we will provide an unforgettable experience for you, our community and the Sailors of the USS RAFAEL PERALTA. All individuals or businesses that participate and contribute to the commissioning week events will be individually contacted by the commissioning committee for ticket requests. There is no need to email a separate request for tickets.
Ceremony only attendance
The commissioning ceremony is an official U. S. Navy event for which there is no admission fee. Admission is, however, by invitation only for security reasons and due to limited seating. Invitation lists will be submitted by crew members, U. S. Navy organizations involved in the ship’s construction and the San Diego Council of the Navy League. If you do not choose to participate in the events surrounding commissioning and only desire to attend the ceremony, click here. Requests for tickets MUST BE RECEIVED NO LATER THAN JUNE 30th. NO REQUESTS WILL BE ACCEPTED AFTER THAT. If you are a guest of a crewmember on USS RAFAEL PERALTA, DO NOT request tickets using this email address. Please contact your crewmember for tickets to ensure you are seated in the appropriate seating section.
